Nate started off the day with reading his SS post from Thursday. After that, we did FVR and listened to Mrs. Ott’s story about the fox in her driveway! Mrs. Ott then went over some changes she made with the 5 paragraph essay. She talked about transitions and conclusions. We finished the class of by reading chapter seven in OAFK and working on the livebinder.

Today, we started off with finishing chapter 17 in OAFK, which was followed by Blake reading his SS post from about a week ago. After that, we read chapter 18 as a group. Finally, we ended the day with a socratic seminar, which was more of a large disscusion. That was our day in Mrs. Ott's class.

This is not my original student scribe post. The original was deleted by Eli and Sydney. Execute them, if you please.

We started the day off with FVR. James read his student scribe(good job James!). We then got time to finish chapter 21 if we hadn't finished it already. We then worked on our essays. We finished the day with a WWW 1-20 kahoot.

We started the day off with FVR. Then, Cindy read the student scribe (good job Cindy!) Next, we played a kahoot for lists 1-10. After that, we watched the announcements. Finally, we ended the day with finishing OAFK and working on the LiveBinder.

Today we quietly walked in and got to our reading. Ella read her scribe post (good job) and then was looking to find a scribe. There are many people in this class that haven't scribed in a while, and the same people keep on doing it...HINT HINT. Anyways, a few groups had to turn in their tally forms for Amazing Grammar Race (you know who you are). Suddenly, while we were individually studying for WWW 1-20, the fire alarm went off! We found out from Mrs. Ott that it wasn't even a drill! Currently (as in the time that I wrote this post), we don't know why the alarm went off. Either way, we were outside for a decent 10-15 minutes! After returning to the room, we then took a vote for where we were going to hold the spontaneous Socratic Seminar: outside in Carolyn's Classroom, or in Mrs. Ott's room? The class voted on going outside, so we did. Even though we didn't have our books, it was still a wonderful discussion. Finally, we all took the chapters 12-24 quiz on Edmodo. Mrs. Ott then surprised us with an offer: anybody that finishes the essay and turns it in by Wednesday morning -before class- will receive 10 extra credit points on their essay. If you turn it in by Wednesday night, you will receive 5 extra credit points! WOW! That sounds like a great offer! All in all, it was a splendid day in Mrs. Ott's class!

Today was an important day in Mrs. Ott's classroom. We began our English MAPs testing today. If you did not finish your test, Mrs. Ott will give you time to finish in class tomorrow. Good luck!

Today we started out the day as usual with F.V.R. Then Mrs. Ott told us we would mostly be finishing up our O.A.F.K. If you had finished everything then you could study www or you could go in the library and do a kahoot by kala. Then we just studied till th end of the day then we watched the popsico music video. After that the day was done and we had to answer a question on our way our of the room. That ends another great day in Mrs. Otts

Today, we started off with Will reading the SS post from a few days ago. Then, we read the POD and we made a stanza following the same format as the POD, just as the characters from OaFK. After that, we wrote about what we know about the dust bowl. Additionally, we watched a video describing what happened during the dust bowl. Finally, we found out that our novel would be about the dust bowl, it is called "Out of the Wind."

As we walked in today, we noticed that the room looked wacky! Apparently, 8th graders were in our room, so the tables were out of place. It took us a few minutes to get everything back in order, but after that we could finally sit down to some peaceful FVR. While the class was reading, Kayla and I sorted through the OAFK books, organizing them and figuring out which ones were missing. The missing books (as of the time that I am writing this post) are: 1, 6, 15, 21, 24. If you have one of these books (or any OAFK book), bring it to Mrs. Ott's room and place it in the bin. Next, we all sat down and Mrs. Ott showed the class period 8-9's and 5-7's "I am from" poems. 5-7 got a little silly, but most of the poems from both classes weren't silly. After that, Mrs. Ott told us about a global poetry thing, which is basically our version of the "I am from" poem. We worked on that for 20 minutes and then got to reading "Out of the Dust" (and writing down quotes). Don't forget, the main idea is that we collect a bunch of quotes throughout the whole story, and then narrow it down to 10 quotes that summarize the whole book. That last activity took us until the end of the day.

Today, we started off the day with an extended FVR because we needed to go through our READO's. Then we (independently) read some of Out of the Dust. We got up to Spring 1934. Try to get as many quotes as you can. After, we shared out quotes. Good job guys! Next, we had a choice between finding quotes or writing our Global Poetry. All in all, it was a great day in Mrs. Ott's class.

Hello, students. You probably won't be reading this because who wants to go on teacher's blogs after school ends? Well, I am going to write this anyway for anyone who DOES go on teachers blogs.
