Today we started with a short FVR, as per usual. Afterwards, we looked at some books Mrs. Ott had gotten from benevolent parent's book donations. Personally, half of them would give me nightmares. With shivers running down our backs, we continued with FVR, except in stylish slippers. During this, Mrs. Ott talked with us about our READOS. By they way, you can add The Fourteenth Goldfish to it. We got 5 extra READO points if we wore slippers. If you're reading this excellent post at home, sick with something, I guess you're out of luck. Next, we chose our new Read-Aloud, Out of My Mind. The basic premise is that this girl with cerebral palsy is a genius, but can't talk or move or communicate. Today was a great day!

We also can study for the WWW test tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's list 9 pretest, but I'm not certain.

Today, we began the day with something a little different, but we have done it before: we took our list 9 pretest. Then James (Mabel) shared his student scribe post, and I was chosen to be student scribe for today (obviously). After that, Mrs. Ott gave us 10 minutes to start our annotating (for the AOW), and really woke us up with the sudden alarm! We quickly transitioned into Grammar Time, and worked on FLAGing (is that how you would spell it?) a sentence. Mrs. Ott proceeded to give us a runthrough of the 90 Second Newbery-the rules, what she wants us to do, and more links to help us. Don't forget, your 90 Second Newbery video is due to Mrs. Ott by December 16! Now came the best part of the day: story time!!! Reading out loud, Mrs. Ott began from where we left off yesterday in "Out Of My Mind", and read until 5 minutes before the bell. Finally, we briefly discussed Peter Pan, and then the bell rang.

Today we started off with FVR, then we read the RM article about Peter Pan. After that, we did SOW and had to do only 2 levels (1. Part of Speech: 2. Parts of a sentence). Then, we did with "Out of My Mind". Finally, we worked on 90 second Newbery. Today was another great day in Mrs, Ott's classroom.

Recently, since we've been MAP testing, we haven't been scribing. But, since English MAP testing has come to an end we are back to scribing! Today was a block day so we went straight to Mrs. Ott's classroom and took the WWW #9 Post Test. Then, we took the WWW #10 Pre-test. Don't forget that the Tuesday directly after Winter break is the day we'll take the WWW 1-10 review test. Start studying! Next we read chapter 5 out of "Out Of My Mind." "Out Of My Mind" is the book we are reading for GRA (Global Read Aloud). Next we reviewed our notes on how to write a 5 Paragraph Essay. Our new essay is due Dec. 16, next Tuesday. Today we focused on our introduction. If you are lost or confused you can always check the Prezi on Mrs. Ott's blog.

Today we again started with F.V.R. but, we didn't earn a point. Come on guy's we should be earning points every time we do F.V.R. Then we read chapter 7 in Out of My Mind. Great job mom. After that, we did a Kahoot that Kayla made. Thanks for making the Kahoot Kayla. Then we read the Gift of the Magi and had to answer some questions. Today all in all we had a great day but, we still can do better.

Today we started off the day by FVR, but we were all anticipating the arrival of 2 special guests: Mr. Sarowitz (Sarah and David's dad), and his friend Anne Marie (from Jupiter!). Mr. Sarowitz told us stories and shared his businesses and what he does. He then handed it over to Anne Marie, who told us about herself and what she does. They (both of them) proceeded to read the edited 3 page version of their co-authored book, "Grace's Giving Basket". All in all, we learned lots of writing tips and lessons/morals from the story and from them. (The two of them also answered questions from our class and asked questions of our class.) We wrote stories while listening to and watching a video featuring Malala, the Pakistani girl who was shot a few years ago by the Taliban. Today was a wonderful day!!!
