Welcome back from your spring break. We started off our day differently today. Since we switched seats we all had to go off on a search for our new seats. We have a new rule, you must start the day off in your own seat! Not in one of the chairs! Then we picked new people for our class jobs. After Mrs. Ott checked everyone for slippers and a book we all started FVR. We took a break from reading after 1rst period was over. We read skeleton creek and watched a video. After watching our video we went back to FVR for the rest of the period.

James L. Not Ruler of the Universe, The World, And, Yes, That Means You

Today, we started off with FVR, as usual. Apparently, today is National Poetry Day. On Edmodo, you'll find a website that leads to a poetry competition. You are not required to enter, but I guess you can. There's a lot of rules, which is weird, because half the rules are "You can do anything!" or something to that event. After Mrs. Ott read the many rules to us, we went to the IMC for a special event. The first thing we did there was discuss what an anthology is and how it is different from a novel in verse. Just finished with this heated argument, we were taught about what an editor does. Still with angry glances being exchanged, we listened to some poems to calm us down. One of them was a Vietnamese poem about some hillbilly farmers and the romantic topic was taxes and farm life. Now more confused than angry, we created our own poetry. This form is called blackout poetry, where you take a book page and black out parts to make a poem. Let me give you an excerpt from mine, which did not rhyme: Could I conga? Of course I can. Oh triangle triumphant! Cheer my eye on!" I did not put it up on the brand-new Exhibition Of The Wonderful Poetry of James (and maybe some from his underlings), but you can see my famous Guy Who Has A Lot of Sticks Stuck To Him poem/artwork. For the rest of the day, we just did some Giver stuff, read, or admired my poetry (and maybe some of my minions' poetry). On that note, so long and thanks for all the fish.

Today, we took WWW 17 Pre Test. The test will be on NEXT Tuesday. We spent the rest of the period working on The Giver. Then we watched a video on why English is spelled so weirdly. French, Latin, Greek, Oh my! After that, we read Skeleton Creek. We worked on The Giver until the last 15 minutes and then we worked on debate.

We started off the day with a few minutes of FVR. The room looked completely different, since all of the tables had to be moved for the socratic seminar. Then, Mrs. Ott explained how this socratic seminar will work. Basically, four people were in the circle, and they started discussing. Once they had discussed for a little, one person could walk up, tap a persons shoulder, and they would switch seats with that person and be part of the circle. We used a fake but still interesting topic, "why is reading important?". Then we moved to the real Giver topics: all of our questions. Good job to everybody for refering to their books! It was quite hard to remember who had just gone in, and who had been sitting there for a while, and who had already gone ten-trillion times, and who had only gone once...yeah.

On Friday, we had the Sameness vs. Diversity Debate. Sadly, the Diversity side won. Today, we had a long FVR and Miranda read the POD. It should have been called SOD because it turned out it was the lyrics to a song, so we ended up watching the music video. It was called Nothing But Flowers. Next, we had Read Aloud. We got to a video with the password lucywestenra. David found out she was one of the girls in Dracula. We found the same thing for Peter Quint. After that, we watched a video about cyber-bullying. Thanks, Grant! Then, we worked on the Amazing Grammar Race! Yay! That was it for Today!

We started off the day with the WWW list 17 post-test and the WWW list 18 pretest. Next, Zack read his student scribe post. After this, Mrs. Ott went through the next live binder with the class. The new book is "Once and Future King." We discussed King Arthur references. After first period, people in band had to leave. We then got time to get a head start on the AOW and/or the live binder.

Today we started off the day with fvr. Remember to start the day in your seats. Next Mrs. Ott told us that there was a new assignment for the Giver. You just had to turn in your check list. After everyone turned in their check list we did amazing race. We all tried to finish it. We then took a break and went to caroline's classroom. We then finished the day with reading the first chapter of Once and the Future King.

Today we started off with FVR, in our seats. After that, we did the WWW cheerleading thing. Next, we did the Amazing Grammar Race. The people who had already finished it worked on the OAFK pre-reading. Then we read more of OAFK, and finished chapter two in our heads. Today was a great day in Mrs. Ott's classroom.

Today, we started off with: Eli, Conqueror of James (and what he thinks is HIS universe), which was followed by the choosing off me! This was followed by Robert screaming out "Wait, the Wart is King Arthor!" and we watched the short Disney version of OaFK. Then, we had two full periods of OaFK presearch/prereading. That is how our day was in Mrs Ott's class.
